Dhorpatan

Mountains, Meadows and Memories

Dhorpatan is one of Nepal's most beautiful and less-explored tourism destinations, located in the western part of the country, across Baglung, Myagdi and Rukum East districts. Surrounded by rolling hills, alpine meadows, snow-capped mountains, forests and traditional mountain settlements, Dhorpatan offers a unique combination of natural beauty, wildlife, adventure and cultural experiences.

The destination is particularly famous for the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve, the only hunting reserve in Nepal. Established in 1987, the reserve is home to wildlife such as blue sheep, Himalayan tahr, musk deer, Himalayan black bear and various bird species. It is also an important habitat for the endangered Himalayan fauna.

Dhorpatan is an ideal destination for travellers seeking peaceful mountain holidays, nature exploration, trekking, camping, birdwatching and authentic rural experiences. Its vast grasslands, locally known as Patans, create beautiful landscapes for photography, hiking and outdoor adventures.

The region is also culturally diverse, with communities including Magar, Dalit and other mountain ethnic groups. Visitors can experience traditional lifestyles, local hospitality, mountain villages, indigenous food and cultural practices.
