The Api Himal Trek is an extraordinary adventure into the remote and beautiful landscapes of Far-Western Nepal. Located in Darchula District, Sudurpashchim Province, this less-explored trekking destination offers spectacular mountain views, pristine valleys, traditional villages, alpine meadows, dense forests, and authentic cultural experiences away from Nepal’s crowded trekking routes.

The region is dominated by Mount Api (7,132 m), the highest peak in the Gurans Himal range. Its majestic snow-covered summit, rugged ridgelines, and dramatic valleys create a breathtaking setting for adventure. The trail passes through traditional settlements, terraced farmland, forested paths, and high-altitude landscapes, allowing trekkers to experience the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region.

One of the major highlights is the journey to Api Himal Base Camp, approximately 3,900 m according to the proposed itinerary. Depending on local conditions and route accessibility, trekkers may also explore attractions such as Khali Dhunga Lake and the Shivadhara area. The trek offers excellent opportunities for photography, nature exploration, and encounters with local communities.

The Api Himal Trek is a moderate-to-challenging adventure involving long walking days, steep trails, changing weather, and limited facilities. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are generally the preferred seasons for trekking. Proper equipment, an experienced local guide, suitable permits, and careful planning are essential for a safe and enjoyable journey.
