Q: Where is Champadevi located?
Champadevi is a forested hilltop on the southern edge of the Kathmandu Valley, in the same hill range as Hattiban and Pharping. The trail past Hattiban Resort has views of Pharping’s monastery, Taudaha Lake, the Bagmati river and the hill-ringed valley. Hattiban Resort is close to the trail, so you start walking straight from the resort.
Q: How long does the hike take?
Plan on about 5 to 6 hours for the full outing, including rest stops and a lunch break at the top. The climb up is the longer part, and the walk back down is noticeably quicker.
Q: Is the trail well developed?
Mostly, yes. The route has stone-paved paths and staircases, with some unpaved sections.
Q: Do I need hiking experience?
No prior experience is needed.
